Purchasing a new puppy can be an overwhelming experience for a lot of people looking to embark on the journey of adding a new dog to their lives. As a start, finding the right breeder can be a very time consuming and labor intensive process that can lead an individual down rabbit holes that either never lead to the puppy they are hoping for, or in some unfortunate cases, a puppy that is either poorly socialized or riddled with a litany of health problems. Having experienced the latter of the listed problems when I first entered the world of purebred dogs, I know the struggle, pain, and unfortunately the cost associated with “poorly bred” dogs. My introduction to the silken windhound as a breed has been a breath of fresh air! "I'd waited years for the right time and the right breeder to bring home my first Silken Windhound. I'd helped a roommate raise their puppy and was feeling confident I was ready, so after months of talking to Janell, I brought home Sunera's Nikola Tesla (Siggi). I was over prepared! Silkens are an easy breed, doubly so when they were raised on Avidog. He already had a major foundation for me to work with. From day one, he always asked to go out to potty, which was one of the things I told Janell I was concerned about since I was a college student with a crazy schedule. She assured me he would be the right fit for my lifestyle, and she was right! He loves his crate and didn't seem to mind if I got stuck in class or work late.
